Claim Your Dental Office As Soon As Possible!
We are now going to ask you to “claim ownership” of your dental office as soon as possible! Sound crazy? You think you already own it? Well please read on because this is actually very important. And again, as a Madow follower, you will be WAY AHEAD of the other offices in your area!
Facebook has a location based check-in application called “Places.” We don’t need to get into the real techie talk here, but what this means is that if someone is in or near your dental office, they are actually able to go into “Places” on Facebook mobile and YOUR DENTAL OFFICE appears! You think this is not important? This is becoming unbelievably popular with everyone now, especially with the tech savvy young people. And in a short time, even the grandmas will be “checking-in” everywhere they go! So we want to make sure you are up to speed.
Even if you don’t fully get this concept or care to promote your practice on Facebook Places, you still need to “claim” that the dental practice that you own or work in is “yours!” In that way, when someone finds your office on Facebook Places, the name and information on the page will at least be accurate.
Here is how you do it:
By using a smartphone Facebook app (iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, etc), stand in or outside of your dental office. Actually, you can sit if you like! Click on “Places” —> “Check in.” Once you do this, a list of “nearby places” will appear. If you see your dental office name in the list, go ahead and select it and then select “Check in.” If you do not see your office in the list, follow the prompts to “add a place.” If you are adding your office, please make sure to name it the way it is officially named on your sign or your business listing. Once you do this, follow the prompts to “Check in.”
The next step is to then go back to your regular Facebook personal profile. This is easiest done on your laptop or desktop as opposed to your phone. If you checked in properly, you should now see your dental office “Place” on your personal wall. Click the link and it will take you to your “place” page. At the very bottom of the page, there will be text that says “is this your business?” Click on that and it will take you through the verification process. Claiming your “Place” requires some supporting evidence – in this way random strangers should be prevented from claiming what is rightfully yours.
We recommend that you embrace the location-based check-in concept and use it as a powerful tool for marketing your practice. We will teach you how do do this in future articles! And even if you don’t plan to advertise your Facebook Place page or target promotional specials to your Facebook fans that have checked in to your business, since the Facebook Place for your practice is going to be out there anyway, you better take ownership of it and at least make sure the information it reflects is accurate.
