Should You Merge Your Office “Place” on Facebook?
A couple of days ago we showed you how to locate your office “place page” on Facebook and then “claim it.” Judging from the response we received, many of you immediately attempted this and it seems as though most of you were successful. Some of you had some questions and we hope we were able to help you.
Again, whether or not you believe in Facebook (we hope you do), it is important to locate your page. Why? Because if you don’t do this, it is very likely that someone else will do it for you (for example a patient sitting in your reception area with a smart phone). And if someone else gets there first, there is a very good chance that they may not list your name the way you would want it listed. And once someone does this, you cannot erase their entry. Now, of course no one can officially “claim your place” except you (the owner), but someone certainly can “locate” it. So to prevent confusion, trust us that you need to get there first!
Once you claim your place on Facebook, you are given the option to “merge” your place with your official Facebook page. We are recommending that you do not do this yet. DO NOT MERGE!!! Just please sit tight once you claim your place.
We apologize if this is confusing to some of you. That’s why right now, we only want you to locate and claim your place — nothing more! If you are not sure what to do, we are actually planning a future webinar on this topic to clear up some of the confusion. It is very important and you should not ignore this!
