Dr. Mayer Levitt – Guest Blog – “I Was There”

April 28th, 2011

The following is a “guest blog” submitted by Dr. Mayer Levitt, founder of Jodena Consulting.

In August of 2009, I had the pleasure of attending the Madow Brothers very first Social Media seminar. It was a professionally life altering event-a signature continuing education experience that definitely changed my consulting business and the information I teach to my clients. A few months later, I shared my thoughts about that experience. This past February – almost a year and a half later – I decided to take the course again and see firsthand the changes that have taken place. I am so glad I went!

The seminar consisted of a great mix of people. Nineteen separate offices from literally every corner of the country were in attendance. There was a wonderful diversity and exchange of ideas from so many talented and successful dental practices.  And as you find with any relatively costly seminar, it is the successful doctors who attend with the idea of hoping to become even more successful. So that is the audience with whom you surround yourself for two very packed intense days of learning.

The leadership of the seminar was wonderful. When I first attended back in 2009, the seminar was led by a non-dentist, and she pretty much ran the whole show. And while she was talented, she had some difficulty relating to specific dental issues. Rich and Dave, as dentists, have now assumed a much more dominant role in the seminar. This particular weekend marked their thirteenth time presenting, and they now have it down to a science.  They have deservedly become known as the innovators and unquestioned leaders in teaching Social Media to the dental profession. They are complemented by Melissa Lierman and Dr. Rich Hirschinger along with three internet/social media assistants who circulate through the room helping at every step of the way.

Melissa is an expert on Twitter and Facebook and presents definitive step by step methodology on how to incorporate these technologies into your practice. She spends a lot of time talking about how to engage patients and not necessarily market to them. Big difference. Melissa then stays in contact with you and your staff after the seminar to provide continuous encouragement and support.

Rich Hirschinger is the founder of DDS.com – one of the most successful and well known companies creating dental websites. Rich is a dentist who practiced in Beverly Hills for ten years until separate hand  and back injuries forced him to sell his private practice in 1995. Rich is extremely knowledgable and presents his information in a logical and thoughtful manner. I was very impressed with his abilities and I learned a lot. I was  glad to see a lot more focus being spent on websites than at the earlier seminar. In my opinion, you can’t have a great social media program without a great website – and Rich is a wonderful teacher with the online goods and credentials to back up his comments.

The material you will learn at the social media seminar is current and relevant. You will not be overwhelmed with a lot of technical mental baggage. The agenda is smooth, organized, and intuitive. And naturally – like any Madow event – you have tons of fun. This course is extremely user friendly – no matter what your entering level of competence – and you will go back home very well prepared to start using your new knowledge immediately.

I would unequivocally recommend this course. It is that good!! And if any of you wish to ask specific questions, don’t hesitate to contact me by phone (401-421-3615) or email (jodena@cox.net).
