Why Has Dave Taken Some Time Off?

I know, I know, I know... it has been a couple of weeks since my last blog posting. I hope you can forgive me. Rich and I were in Las Vegas with our TBSE, which as many of you know stands for "The Best Seminar Ever!" This year was our tenth anniversary and without boring you with a bunch of details, it was absolutely the best one yet by far. Everyone had such a great time and most people there signed up on the spot for next year's TBSE (which incidentally will be in New Orleans). But suffice it to say, I was so preoccupied with the seminar, I had no time to blog!

There are some things going on that I need to talk to you about. They are very important. So I ask you to just hang in there for a very short amount of time. Check back often... I promise to be right back... OK???

Day Four: The Most Important Day

Well, days one thru three were fairly easy to explain. What types of exercise you need to keep your body at its maximum state. And what foods you should be putting into your body as fuel. Not very difficult concepts. The most important thing is that you don't just read the words on the page. You need to actually do something to transform your body into something you probably never dreamed you could. But believe me, it's not difficult. Just learn what I have taught and methodically take the time to do it.

Now we arrive at day four. It is equally as important as days one through three, but it is not as concrete. Everyone that reads this may get a little something different out of it. But that's OK. Day four is definitely the most difficult to master out of the four days. But once you do master it, your body will be brought to a level you have probably never imagined.

What I'm about to talk about is your mental condition and your outlook on life. Let me ask you something? Are you happy? Do you enjoy your life? If there is anything you'd like to do differently, what would it be? Are you stressed? Are you sad? Nervous? Moody? Do you fight with people easily? Do you find it hard to forgive someone? Do you laugh often? Do you smoke? Do you use alcohol or drugs to feel better?

We as people need to be at peace with ourselves. A mind and a body that are in a beautiful state of harmony will lead you into a long healthy life. Disease and early aging are not normal. They are caused by something going awry in your cells. Admittedly, disease is not always preventable, as in something genetic, but in most cases there is a stressor from the outside that attacks your body and causes bad things to happen.

I really believe that the mind plays an enormous role in what happens to us physically. Stress is a killer, and even if you are doing everything else right as far as exercise and diet, if there is something going on in the background mentally, somewhere in your body cells are being attacked. The damage may not show up for years, but believe me, it is quietly taking place and one day it will rear its ugly little head in the form of some type of disease.

So the big question you are probably asking is how can you tell if your mental condition is OK? Well, let me answer that as simply as I can. The answer is... most likely, you know deep down inside if you have a total feeling of peace. The reason I say "deep down" is because many people have a lot going on inside of them but choose to act on the outside like everything is great. Some can hide feelings so deep, that they almost forget they are there. But believe me... they do not go away on their own. And no matter how much you try to hide and act, bad feelings may be festering inside of you and doing serious damage.

Where do we start? We can start with something very simple. It's called "Dave's Driving Test." Well, it's not really a test to see how well you drive, but it is designed to see how you feel in the morning. Here's how to take "Dave's Driving Test." Next time you are driving to your workplace, take a step back and reflect. Be totally honest with yourself. How do you feel? Are you happy to be going to work? Do you look forward to your job? Are you excited? Or are you thinking "another day at work, I can't wait until five o'clock."

You don't have to be actually driving. You could be walking or on public transportation. But it is very important to see how you feel while you are on your way. If you are not truly excited to be going to your job, you need to reevaluate what you are doing. I suggest you go back and read my earlier blog entry called "Welcome." If you have a good feeling about going to work, congratulations! You most likely spend many hours each week working and dreading what you do for a living will eat away at your body.

The next morning while driving to work, do your best to figure out if anything in your life is stressing you out. Could it be money? A relationship? Family? A problem with a friend? Something you have not been honest about with yourself or others? If you find something, try to zero in on it and determine why this is causing stress in your life.

If you find things in your life that are getting in the way of achieving peace of mind, then you MUST determine a way to get rid of them. Whatever it takes. It is not an option to live with something that is standing in the way of a peaceful mind. It will ultimately cause disease.

I believe there is an answer to any problem. It may take the assistance of another person or people to help you, but I cannot overemphasize how important it is to get rid of the bad stuff in your life.

Day four is indeed the most difficult. That's why I left it for last. It will make you look at yourself in a way that you may never have looked at youself before. But if you are honest with yourself and take care of the things that are not right in your life, you will achieve the type of peace that will help you complete the "Four Day Countdown to the New You!"
