For Dental Patients And The Dental Team

A book inspired by "Chicken Soup For The Dental Soul" - called "Love Is The Best Medicine For Dental Patients And The Dental Team." And if that story didn't get you all warm and touchy about the practice of dentistry, you may want to see if you can still fog a mirror.

This brand new book is a collaboration between Don Dible and yours truly. It was launched with the blessing of the "Chicken Soup" guys - as a matter of fact, Mark Victor Hansen has written the foreword! And many of our own Richards Report readers have contributed stories. Thanks to you and many others in the dental profession, we have come up with an incredible collection of touching, meaningful, and poignant episodes on a variety of dental topics.

These are stories that will touch the heart and soul of every person in the dental profession. You'll laugh, you'll cry, but most of all, you will get a renewed vigor for dentistry, and once again, realize why we do just what we do.

Whether you're in love with the profession or totally burnt out and frustrated, Love Is The Best Medicine For Dental Patients And The Dental Team will give you an incredible boost. As a matter of fact, I would include Love Is The Best Medicine For Dental Patients And The Dental Team in my very short list of books that every single dentist, dental hygienist, and dental team member should read - the other two being Dr. Earl Estep's The Obvious Secret and Dr. Paddi Lund's Building The Happiness Centred Business. (Okay - I know that doesn't carry a lot of weight being the co-author and all!)

But there's actually much more to it than that. You see, Love Is The Best Medicine For Dental Patients And The Dental Team is written for the dental patient as well. There are no detailed clinical stories, and you won't find any mention of the Curve of Spee (one of my main criteria for a good book. Who was Spee anyway? Has anybody met this guy? And of all the things to be named after ??? - geez!!)

Anyway - the stories are all on a "dental consumer" level - and there is not one dental patient in the world that wouldn't benefit from reading this book. They will appreciate you and your office much more - and they will truly treasure their dental health.

And let's not forget the potential dental patient.

Getting Love Is The Best Medicine For Dental Patients And The Dental Team into their hands could actually change their lives forever! So what should you do with this book? Here are my suggestions.

It's a great gift for referrals, apologies for running late, etc.. I'm tellin' ya' - people eat up these kinds of books, and you'll see how magical this one is.

We really did not want to get involved in the retail distribution of a book (translation = lots of work, little profit), but as co-author, I believe so strongly in Love Is The Best Medicine For Dental Patients And The Dental Team that we have agreed to become a distributor. Each copy is $14.95 plus shipping, but if you buy a case, they drop down to just $9.95 each.

Look - we really are reluctant retailers, so I'm not gonna be pushy, but this truly is a fantastic book for every dentist, team member, patient, and potential patient.

Building the Happiness-Centered Business

Avoid things such as "Murphy's Law," (who was Murphy anyway?) T.G.I.F., or anything else that demeans whatever you are doing. Stop and think for awhile about what we and others around us casually yet constantly throw into conversations. There is an incredible amount of negativity everywhere!

Gossiping, saying bad things about people, assuming the worst, phrases like "two more hours to go," -these do nothing except make you feel bad about whatever is going on around you. Use positive conversation; it's empowering!

Well, there you have them -the eight "Performance Standards" of Dr. Paddi Lund's Courtesy System. At first glance this may seem trite and even silly, but that is the real beauty of the thing. The roles ARE simple. They are just common logic, human kindness, and a large touch of civility. And they work like crazy! !

I don't think it would be too bold to suggest that if you abide by the standards of the Courtesy System, your office will be a much more pleasant place for all, your patients will notice the difference, and your production will even go up! Abide by them in your personal life, and watch the changes in your temperament, patience, and attitude. It's really incredible.

Of course I would like to thank Dr. Paddi Lund and Fletcher Potanin of Solutions Press (both of Brisbane, Australia) for their kind permission to write so freely about Paddi's Courtesy System. This is just a touch of what you will find in Paddi's fabulous book, Building The Happiness Centred Business. The subtitle of this book is a great description of the content: "How you can find happiness in your business and reap all of the rewards that it brings, including increased profits, by following in the footsteps of a crazy dentist."

If you would like to purchase this fantastic book, we have saved you the time and expense of having your copy shipped from Australia by becoming one of the North American distributors.
