Q: I read all about your social media marketing and your Madow Mail to new residents and it all sounds great. My problem is that I have virtually no budget for marketing right now. What can I do to grow my practice?

A: First of all, every practice needs to have a budget for marketing. The most successful ones could easily spend 5-10% of their gross on marketing and that’s what makes them top-notch! You cannot afford NOT to have a strong social media presence these days as well as a great website that consistently pulls in new patients! And you are right, “Madow Mailing” to the new residents in your area brings in tons of patients as predictably as the sun rises every day.
But having said that, here is a great way to market your practice on the cheap! Make sure EVERY team member in your office has their very own personalized business card. And once they all have cards, make sure everyone (doctor included) starts doing ALL of their personal business in the area of the office.
What are the personal things we are referring to? How about grocery shopping, eating in restaurants, the gym, banking, dry cleaning, nails, car washing, haircuts, massage, beauty salons… the list goes on and on.
And every time a team member or the doc is in a place of business, make it your mission to hand your business card to at least one person. Then it becomes a game of mathematics! Can you imagine how many people in the community will have your cards at the end of six months? Let’s just say…
TONS OF THEM!
This is like the “poor man’s” social media! Your name gets around to many people fairly quickly. We urge you to try this technique whether you are spending zero or $200,000 a year on marketing. Why? Because it works!
