January 2021 Management, Marketing and Leadership Tips from Coach Betty

January 2021 Marketing Ideas

January 2021 | Management | Marketing | Leadership Tips

I am sure you’re ready to close out this bizarre year and welcome in 2021. In January 2021 it is a good time to reflect on the things that went well last year as well as the things that you don’t want to repeat or bring into the new year.

Make your 2021 action plan for any wanted and needed improvements to your office including setting your production, collection, treatment, continuing education, and new patient goals for the new year. As you are setting your goals for 2021 and making plans to grow your practice remember to also create a marketing calendar.

Leadership Tips & Ideas

“Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.” – Helen Keller

National Clean Off Your Desk Day: January 11th

Clutter represents indecision. Decide to get rid of the clutter! That includes any sticky notes attached to computer monitors, coats/sweaters hanging on the backs of chairs and fast-food drink containers sitting out on the counters.

Boost Team Morale

National Bagel Day: January 15th

Surprise your team and bring in bagels for breakfast! (Dr. Rich adds that to be a real mensch you can bring lox and cream cheese too!)

National Compliment Day: January 24th

Share lots of compliments today. Compliment and reward the behaviors you want to see more of. Actually, this is a great one to celebrate every day of the year!

Practice Management Reminders

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”  – Don Millman

Insurance Renewals

Many of your patients’ dental insurance maximums renew on January 1st. Reach out to your patients with a friendly reminder of their renewed benefits and to schedule them to come in for their hygiene visit or unscheduled treatment with the doctor.

Unscheduled Patients

It doesn’t do any good to have active patients if they’re not scheduled for a future appointment. Make plans to reach out to all your unscheduled patients and invite them to schedule an appointment for their hygiene visit or if they have unscheduled treatment plans.

January 2021 Marketing Tips & Ideas

Important Note: If you want more new patients (and I am sure that you do!), it’s time to do something different. The marketing ideas that I share with you when implemented are designed to get your current patients talking about their awesome experience with you to their friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers AND to help get your name out in the community. Oh, and they are easy to implement, free or inexpensive, and they work.

“You’ll never get bored when you try something new. There’s really no limit to what you can do.”  – Dr. Seuss

January is National Hot Tea Month.

I am sharing this idea again this year because it is always a huge hit with dental patients. Gift idea for your Patients: Give away packets of tea that have a label on them saying “Our Patients are TEA-riffic!” Service/Treatment Feature: Desensitizing Agents. Many people experience tooth sensitivity while drinking hot beverages.

Fun Patient & Community Engagement Idea

Dress Up Your Pet Day: January 14th. On your office Facebook page, invite people to share photos of their dressed-up pets. You could even offer a prize for the picture that gets the most likes. People love to show off their pets.

Educational Idea (In-office or Via Social Media Platforms)

Sugar Awareness Week: Jan. 20-24. This week share posts/videos to your social media pages all about sugar and dental health. Some examples are common snacks with high sugar content, or how much sugar is in your favorite beverages.

Social Media Post Ideas to Improve Engagement during the month of January:

  • January is National Soup Month! “Y’all want some soup?”
  • January 3rd: Drinking Straw Day
  • January 19th: Popcorn Day
  • January 26th: Dental Drill Appreciation Day!!
  • January 29th: Fun at Work Day

The Golden Globes and the Grammy Awards are in January: Do a “Match the famous smile to the celebrity” contest on Facebook or Instagram for your patients and the community with the chance to win a gift card or gift basket.

There you have it with some leadership, practice management, and marketing tips and ideas for January 2021. What are you planning to implement? I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, and plans for January so feel free to shoot me a message to betty@madow.com  – looking forward to hearing from you!
