Marketing and Management Tips for May

calendar showing May 1st, related to marketing ideas for May
Welcome back to Coaches Corner! Coach Betty here. Today I’ll be talking about some fun and simple marketing ideas to help your practice become more involved and well known in the community – and that means more new patients!

Theme: National Smile Month

Focus: Healthy & Beautiful Smiles (Preventive & Cosmetic Services)

Goal: Bring in New Patients, Increase Production & Exceed Patients Expectations

Contest/Raffle – Family Fun & Wellness Gift Basket (Tote/Cooler)
Fill with Lawn games, BBQ supplies, Sunscreen, Citronella Candles, Toothbrushes, Paper products, Chalk, etc.

Patients earn entries for Facebook likes, check-ins, reviews, Google reviews and for referring new patients.

Community Opportunities
Teacher Appreciation Week: 5-11

National Nurses Day and Week: 6-12
National Police Week:  12-18

This month makes it very easy to build relationships with some of the local businesses.  Here are a few EASY, INEXPENSIVE, and EFFECTIVE ways to do that.

Target the hard-working teachers, nurses, and police officers in your community by showing up with surprise gifts of appreciation. Whatever you choose to take to them make sure you include items that are imprinted with your office name. Also, create some posts for your office FB/IG pages and tag the schools, doctors’ offices, and police station in them.

Educational Opportunities:

National High Blood Pressure Education Month

Are you consistently taking your patients’ blood pressure?  If not, now is a great time to start.

What do you say if your patients ask why you’re taking their blood pressure?
“Dr. __ and our team are not only interested in your oral health but your overall health. We take every precaution necessary to ensure that you will leave happy and healthy.”

National Physical Fitness & Sports Month

Promote Mouthguards – Sports-related injuries account for approximately 5 million missing teeth per year.

Practice Management Tips & Ideas:

Insurance Renewal

Some insurance companies renew their maximum on June 1st. Pull a report of any patients due in hygiene or with incomplete treatment that have benefits remaining that renew in June and that don’t owe you money. Starting now, make “Use it or Lose It” calls, mail reminders and share on social media.

Social Media Post Ideas to Improve Engagement

All of May: National Pet Month:
People LOVE to share pictures of their pets.

May 5-11th: Drinking Water Week
Share the dental health benefits of drinking water

May 19-25th: National New Friends, Old Friends Week
Great reason to ask for referrals. “We love meeting new friends”

May 16th: National Piercing Day
May 23rd: Eat More Fruits & Vegetables Day
May 31st: World No-Tobacco Day

These are all great opportunities for health education and postings.

All of these marketing ideas are simple and fun to do, and can make for an engaging May!
