Practice Management and Marketing Tips for January

“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.” —John Pierpont “J.P.” Morgan
Happy New Year everyone! Coach Betty here with another edition of Coaches Corner on Practice Management and Marketing Tips for January! Don’t let another year slip by without obtaining the practice of your dreams!Have you created your practice management and marketing plans and goals for 2019? If not, now is the time to get started.

Do include your team in this plan! Ask them what their ideas are to make 2019 a more productive and happier year for all!  Remember, people are more likely to support that which they help to create.

Inactive Patients:

It doesn’t help anyone to have a file cabinet or computer full of inactive patients – get them on the schedule. The end of January is a great time to start a reactivation campaign.

Insurance Maximums:

Many of your patients’ dental insurance maximums renew on January 1st. Phone your patients with a friendly reminder of their renewed benefits and to make a reservation for them to come in for their hygiene visit or incomplete treatment with the doctor. Include reminders on your social media pages.

National Clean Off Your Desk Day is January 14th:

Clutter represents indecision. Decide to get rid of the clutter! That includes any sticky notes attached to computer monitors, coats/sweaters hanging on the backs of chairs, and fast-food drink containers sitting out on the counters. While you’re at it, go ahead and attack the cabinets & closets. Say goodbye to the clutter! Don’t forget your electronic clutter as well. Clean out that email inbox!

Educational & Treatment Opportunity – January is National Hot Tea Month:

Did you know that drinking teas such as green tea can be very good for one’s dental health? A recent study showed that adults who drink green tea have superior dental health when compared to coffee drinkers! The theory is that catechins in green tea (and oolong tea) are antimicrobial and kill bacteria associated with tooth decay and periodontal disease.

Does tooth sensitivity hold some of your patients back from enjoying their favorite hot beverage? Show them how you can help relieve/eliminate tooth sensitivity. This will give a nice boost to your production too!

Give Away/Gift Idea: Green Tea Packets that have a label attached to them saying: “Our Patients are TEA-riffic! ~ Thank you!”

This is a super easy & inexpensive way to exceed expectations. Be sure to let your patients know the two reasons you have chosen to give them green tea.

Community Involvement:

Be a donation drop-off location for collecting items for families in need. Encourage your patients and potential patients to donate items such as winter gear (mittens & scarves) or non-perishable food items.

Social Media Content Ideas to Build Engagement:

January 3rd: Drinking Straw Day
January 11th: Cigarettes Are Hazardous To Your Health Day (this should be every day!)
January 14th: Dress Up Your Pet Day
January 26th: Dental Drill Appreciation Day. Yes – that is real!
January 20th – 26th: Sugar Awareness Week
