A few weeks ago we had a plumbing issue at The Madow Center World Headquarters in Reisterstown, MD. Without going into too much detail, let’s just say we needed some repairs and we needed them quickly!!
We have both used Honest Abe Plumbing at our homes and asked the landlord at The Madow Building if we could have him (or his partner, Honest Saul) stop by.
But our landlord said that Honest Abe was not on his PPO (Poor Plumbing Options) so we could not call him. As a matter of fact, it seemed like our building plumbing contract was part of a DSO (Drain and Sink Organization) and we had no choice.
So a couple hours later a guy from Mediocre Marvin’s Plumbing stops by, cigarette dangling from his lips. After a cursory look he says that the toilet and sink are both clogged and they need a complete snaking and a reworking of the drainage system to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
But first he had to get approval from a company called Do Everything Less Than Average (DELTA) – and unfortunately they would only use the LEAK (Less Expensive Alternative Knowledge) to come up with the remedy.
This repair involved Marvin thrusting away in the toilet with a gross plunger until the clog was disrupted, causing a mild flood. He then used the same plunger to unclog the sink and proceeded to make himself a cup of coffee in our kitchen without washing his hands.
Well, everything kinda worked, but we knew it was just a matter of time before we would be calling the DSO, who used the PPO, which answered to DELTA, who recommended the LEAK again. This just didn’t seem right, so we complained to the landlord, who said,
“Well, you could’ve used Honest Abe Plumbing. You just would’ve had to pay a bit out-of-pocket.” Shew. Lesson learned for next time.
Conclusion: It’s a good thing that nothing like this could happen in dentistry!
